Tian Yi (in) Flying Ninja Models
After Michael Kors Spring 2013… 14 months ago at pre-casting, I met this 17 years old new face who was in New York City for the 1st time unaware of her future but ready to model. 3 seasons later, Tian Yi continues to be a grounded and sweet young model with so much smile and energy to give in the streets, on the runway, or on a shoot! Tian was one of the top 5 most in-demand catwalkers this season. She walked a total of 65 shows in New York, London, Milan, and Paris — including top shows such as Alexander McQueen, Versace, Celine, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, and Vera Wang. In addition, she also received the honor of opening Missoni. High fashion modeling is a tough world for all girls, but Asian girls do have additional struggles too because many designers often cast and quickly interchange 1 or 2 Asian models in their shows simply for tokenism. Anyway, congrats to Tian on an amazing season, and thank you for always making me smile and being a trooper repping for all the yellow peeps! <3
